(Re)Finishing the Floors: Part 2

So the Lee Brothers showed up the next day and got to work. We were originally told we couldn't go to the house at all through the entire process. Ever the rule follower, to me this meant we couldn't go over to the house that week. Silly me... to Bill this meant we would stop over every night to check on the progress.

Benefit #1 of being married to a rule-breaker? We have pictures of the floors every step of the way.

Day 1 consisted of sanding the floors.

We were a tad concerned about the hardwood in the kitchen. They had been stained by the previous owners and were in the worst shape of all the rooms. Mr. Lee also expressed concerns over them, but seemed optimistic. Luckily, they looked exactly the same as the rest of the floors once they were sanded!

The living room and bedrooms looked great...

We made sure to let Mr. Lee know we'd like the floors refinished all the way into the hall closet too...

They had apparently stopped halfway up the stairs for the day, so you can see the difference in finish at about the 6th step up...

You can also see all the holes they had to fill from all of those freaking staples!

We only stayed for about 5 minutes- the air and walls were soaked with sawdust... (probably the reason we weren't supposed to be in there!!)

They already looked awesome! Now stop peaking and be surprised when they are done! What color are you getting them finished? Or just a clear coat?
